MAY 2014

So that's it, foaling done for another year. We have a lovely selection of foals that will be for sale shortly. Particularly pleased with the first crop of Flashpoint baby's they are stunning. He has definitely done his job, both ours and clients foals look quality types, have real presence and are showing glimpses of some super movement in the fields. Some potential stars of the future.

Earlier in the month Alvescot Money maker was placed second in the Burghley young event horse 5 yo qualifier at Badminton horse trials with her rider Hannah Bate. A week later she came third in the same qualifier at Chatsworth international horse trials. This super mare was bred by us and we sold her last summer as an unbacked 4 year old, she is by the 2007 Foxhunter champion Marcolas G out of our Pouchka mare Alvescot Professional Spook. We look forward to following the progress of this combination.

While this month has been a bit quieter it has given us the chance to get a couple of the riding horses out to their first competitions. Alvescot Whirlwind went to a local show at the beginning of the month to do some showing, he behaved very well winning his class and being admired by many. Later on in the month we went for a couple of outings to Rectory farm a superb venue and very well run. We took Alvescot Whirlwind and Wizard to the the unaff dressage. They went very well, placed in both there classes the first week, the second week Whirlwind won his and again both were placed. Very pleased with them.

Alvescot Phantassimo sold to Italy!
Phantassimo who was best british bred and =2nd at the Stallion showcase GB loose jumping competition earlier this year has been purchased by an Italian showjumper. He made his way out to Italy a couple of days ago. Hopefully great things to come from him.

JULY 2013

Congratulations to Izzy Taylor with Briarlands Matilda by Miley.
The pair who were on the Nations Cup Eventing team for the CIC3* along with Tom McEwen, Gemma Tattersall and Tina Cook finished team 2nd in Aachen behind Germany. Izzy and Matilda finished 16th in the individual. What a fantastic result for everyone involved.
Later on this month KBIS Briarlands Matilda and Izzy Taylor made it on to the GB eventing squad for the FEI senior European eventing championships in Sweden at the end of August.

An enjoyable trip to Addington Manor at the beginning of the month to the Stallion Showcase GB show was definitely worth it. We entered one of our young horses Alvescot Phantassimo into the loose jumping competition. We think a lot of this horse and he did not disappoint, jumping very well he was placed second and was best british bred. Phantassimo is by our coloured stallion Alvescot Picasso out of a grade A jumping mare Galina.

Today we lost a very special boy at the stud. Wanninger at the grand age of 29 quietly passed away at lunchtime. We are truly going to miss this gentlemen who has been part of our breeding programme for the last 9 years and has left us with some fantastic offspring. Wanninger came to us in 2002 from Germany after retiring from competition and where he also had previously stood at stud. He had competed to Grand Prix and was best German stallion at the World Championships in Zwolle in 1998 he was also reserve champion at his stallion licensing in Verden. He had such a kind temperment and an incredible walk which he passed on to his stock who are now starting to come through in dressage and eventing. He also has several doing well showing at county level. He was still very fit and healthy up to the end and continued with his stud duties this year so we look forward to his last crop of foals in the spring.

We have been awarded a British eventing Breeders Medal for breeding Alvescot Mighty Mouse who was the best british bred horse at this years Lycetts British Eventing 6 Year old Championships at Osberton. Alvescot Mighty Mouse was purchased from us as an unbacked 3 yr old and is by our coloured stallion Miley (who is also the sire of Briarlands Matilda who was the best british bred mare placed 7th at Burghley this year). His dam Alvescot Pink Gin is by the international GP show jumper Pouchka III. We wish his rider Sophie Jenman continued success.

Congratulations to Lidiah Blundell and her 5 yr old Hannoverian Wonderboy 111 who won the prelim at the Pencoed Petplan Area Festival in a 40 strong class and qualifying for the British Dressage Winter Championships next April. This was Wonderboy's 7th outing and first big show. He has consistently won or been placed every time out.
Wonderboy was bred here and purchased from us at the end of last year as an unbacked 4yr old. He is by Wanninger and out of D'Savannah, who is by Dimaggio out of Valeria who was a Grand Prix dressage mare. We wish Lidiah continued success.

What a result !!! The weekend saw us head to Moreton Morrell college for the annual British Warmblood stallion grading. We put up our 2 year old stallion Flashpoint who is by Ampere out of Accrabella, by Dornenkonig. It was his first ever outing but he behaved impeccably and rather enjoyed all the attention. We are thrilled with him, out of 17 stallions presented 4 were fully graded including Flashpoint, not only did he grade but he was also CHAMPION STALLION and awarded with a premium status. He will now be available at stud next year.
